First Day of School * Cole Edition

We got up bright and early to make sure Cole got a good breakfast and had time to really wake up so he wouldn't be cranky. He looked so nervous all morning! I got him to the school and it was a mad house. Which is to be expected on the first day. We went through the drop off drive through and he actually wanted a hug before he got out. That's when I knew he was more worried than I had realized (because he is far too cool to need hugs at 7.5). So after he got out I drove around and parked so I could wait with him, since he clearly needed it. But by the time we got to the parking lot his class had already gone in.

We went in to make sure he made it to his class and didn't get lost. He hadn't, he had already hung up all his stuff, found his seat and was introducing himself to the cute little girl that sat next to him *awwww*.

I sat around all day on pins and needles waiting to get him. Then I was almost late because I forgot this new school has earlier start and end times though. I still managed to get there at a decent time so I was only 10-15 cars back in the pickup line. Pickup was a NIGHTMARE it took 30 MINS to get Cole!! Thankfully they have sent out a new procedure to try today. Hopefully it will go a bit smoother.

When he got in the car I asked him all about his day. He made two friends and had mac n' cheese and pickles for lunch. That's about as good as it gets for this kid *grin*. He learned how to say I and head in Spanish LOL. It really couldn't have gone any better.

I am awed everyday by just how amazing this kid is. He is bright and funny and he has the most incredible self esteem. I worry about him losing himself as he goes through school, I pray that he doesn't get teachers who try to squash his creativity. Of all my kids I see him having the drive to do the most and be the best.

This mornings drop off went much better. He was feeling more confidant than he was yesterday and I can't wait to hear how his day goes.

I love this boy:
