When I was still pretty newly pregnant with Campbell I put a request on
freecycle for a crib. We got this piece of crap.
LOL It was missing all of the hardware. Mason said we could just buy new hardware and make it work for Campbell. I wasn't buying it. It was old and I had no way of knowing if there had been any recalls. I just wasn't comfortable using it as a crib, so it sat in our garage for a good 6 months. A couple weeks ago I decided it would be a cute toddler bed and went to work.

I cut 6" off one of the end pieces so it would be shorter like a real foot board. I bought a 1x6x10 pine board at Home Depot and cut it to length for our crib mattress. Screwed on some cleats and cut a piece of plywood we had in the garage down to hold the mattress. The metal frame part from the crib was too small to attach to the side rails for some reason, it could have something to do with me not measuring it first but whatever, it all worked out.
Cannon was given the choice of apple green or aqua blue, he pointed to blue and I love it. He loves his new bed and tells everyone "mommy made it" which I LOVE too.

Total Cost: $15 for one pine board, one can of primer and two cans of blue paint.
